Aside from the obvious things like talking animals and three young kids trespassing on zoo grounds at midnight, some events seem a bit unrealistic and too coincidentally and perfectly in the kids’ favor. However, with the event leading up to the climax seemed to lose some of the momentum from earlier in the story it seemed a bit fast-paced with less detail and realism. The ending cliffhanger gives me the impression that there is still very much to learn about the zoo, the people there, the magic embedded in the place and so much more. Finally, the plot has a pretty satisfying climax and resolution. The author gives them distinct qualities and differences that made them an essential part of the team to help save Megan. I also really like the characterization of the animals, like Blizzard, Marlo and Podgy. The characters' personalities are nuanced and interesting, and the Action Scouts make a very spunky and brave trio. I have no doubt that fans of animals, adventure, and fantasy will enjoy this novel. I didn’t initially realize this was a children’s novel when I started reading it, but after I finished the book, I would say it is pretty good. With the help of zoo animals and a little bit of magic, Noah, Ella and Richie embark on an adventure to bring Megan home. It's also clear that several zoo authorities are determined to keep the 'Megan Situation' a secret from outsiders. It wasn't long before the trio realized the zoo and animals were not what they appeared to be, and that some of them knew of Megan's whereabouts.
